QuickTime update improves compatibility with iChat

Apple released a second update late Monday, this time for its QuickTime media software.

According to the notes provided with the update, QuickTime H.264 Compatibility Update 7.5.5 improves QuickTime compatibility with iChat. Considering the fact that this update is for H.264, it seems obvious that the update addresses issues with iChat video.
The 3.3MB update is available from Apple’s built-in software update mechanism found on all Mac OS X computers.
Apple also released an update for its MacBook and MacBook Pro notebooks on Monday, fixing issues with the trackpad.

iPod nano and classic audio recording
If you have an iPhone headset (or a mic-equipped headset compatible with the iPhone) you can use it to record voice memos on your 4G iPod nano and 2G iPod classic. These headsets do not record with the previous nano or classic.

Although the feature is built in, Apple told me that developers will have to modify their applications to bring that capability to the 2G iPod touch, as enabling it for the iPhone doesn’t also enable it for the iPod touch. Should you try to install an application that includes audio recording to a 2G iPod touch, iTunes will tell you it can’t be done.
